CSR is crucial activity that should be carried out along with every business. In carrying out microfinance business of Hayman Capital is not only giving financial services but also carrying out CSR activities in environments of its branches open.

As a prominent activities of CSR, Hayman Capital opened one month basic sewing training cooperated with Ministry of Social Welfare Department at Kyakhattawra Monastery, Bago Region.

Totally (40) trainees from the clients and their families who enthusiastic in learning basic sewing attended it. That training aims somehow to advantage their career and income increment purpose for their families.

Training opened in May and its closing ceremony was held on 24th June. Dr. Win Myat Aye Union Minister of Social welfare, relief and rehabilitation, Deputy Minister as well as other responsible persons attended to it and rewarded trainees with winner prizes and training certificates.

Hayman Capital is very glad and proud of on that training could be done. Very near in future it has plan to do the same CSR activities and other required training in everywhere of its branches open as much as possible.

According to the flood disaster in rainy season of 2015, Myanmar people needs emergency response. Hayman Capital donated 200,000 MMK to national disaster management committee for water flood victim on 9th of September, 2015. There is a lack of drinking water in the hot season, Hayman Capital CSR projects gave support to area.  Hayman Capital donated drinking water sufficiency for the our children at basic middle school, Shan Ywar village, Hlegu Township, Yangon Region on July, 2016. Myanmar population is growing fast and need more infrastructure, buildings and facilities; the education is to basic necessity for the future of our children.  Hayman Capital donated money for a roof for the school building at primary school, Pauktaw village, Bago Township, Bago region on July, 2016.

OVERVIEW

  1. Hayman Capital Company Limited – acting as a Microfinance Institution under the proper license (hereinafter referred to as the “MFI”)
  2. Corporate Social Responsibility is MFI’s sense of responsibility towards the community and environment in which it operates. MFI believes in conducting its business responsibly, fairly and in a transparent manner. Its’ aim is to bring overall positive impact on the society and the environment in which it operates. MFI will be making consistent efforts going forward for economic and social improvement of marginalized sections of the society

OBJECTIVE

  1. To express MFI shareholders’ desire, to create MFI as a socially and environmentally responsible company.
  2. To formalize fundamental social and environmental principles with the objective of relaying them to MFI employees, clients and the partners with whom MFI interacts while it accomplishes its mission.
  3. To define key commitments that shall be respected by MFI, its employees when conducting operations.
  4. This policy should allow MFI to ensure that its activities have a positive social impact and that they are respectful of the environment.

PRINCIPLES

The fundamental principles of CSR policy are as follows:

  1. Comply with local regulations and identify relevant social and environmental issues prevailing in Myanmar: As a preliminary obligation, MFI complies with all applicable local and national regulations. Furthermore, MFI will have to identify the relevant issues imposed by the prevailing environmental, social and economic context and take them into consideration when running operations.
  2. Respect fundamental human and social principles, based on International Conventions: MFI will accept and uphold the principles contained in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labor Organization Conventions, MFI will also encourage clients and business partners to do the same.

Increase awareness of environmental issues among employees and clients: In order to reduce negative environmental impact, MFI will evaluate the environmental impact of its clients’ activities and will seek counseling and advice from specialized organizations whenever possible, to encourage the diffusion of environmentally friendly practices.

CSR ACTIVITIES

  1. This Policy specifies the projects and programs that can be undertaken and the scope is kept as wide as possible in order to allow MFI to respond to different situations and challenges appropriately and flexibly. MFI plans to undertake the following activities during the period 2016-2018:
    1. Promotion of education, awareness campaigns, child welfare, rehabilitation of differently-abled, gender equality, empowering women and employment enhancing vocational skills;
    2. Community development, health care, sanitation, reducing child morality and improving maternal health;

ROLE OF MANAGEMENT

  1. The Management Board shall report to the Board of Directors, at least on an annual basis, the status of the CSR projects/activities undertaken by the management along with the impact created by such projects/ activities. The management will play the following roles in fulfilling the Company’s CSR objectives:
    1. Execution and review of CSR Policy indicating the activities to be undertaken towards CSR initiatives, and ensuring transparent monitoring mechanism;
    2. Recommendation of funds for expenditure to be incurred on CSR activities;
    3. Formulation of projects/programs/activities proposed and use 
of the amount spent towards CSR activities;
    4. Annually reporting to the Board, the status of CSR activities and contributions
made by MFI;
    5. To ensure steady progress and proper utilization of CSR funds with follow up visits by the CSR officer;
  2. MFI shall also upload the Policy on its website. Further, a detailed status report on the CSR activities carried out by MFI would be disclosed every year as part of the CEO’s Report in the Annual Report. Management could engage external agencies to evaluate the CSR projects and monitor its progress.

CSR PROJECTS

Education

This would include partnerships with organizations and individuals working in the field of primary and secondary education, formal and non-formal, literacy programs, scholarships etc. The main focus of supporting these programs is to ensure basic literacy, offer vocational training, and manage teaching societies and study centers

Community Development

This would cover the areas of women empowerment, rehabilitation of destitute women and children, improving slum habitat, the provision of necessary amenities for economically disadvantaged persons, causes of the elderly.

Child Welfare

This would cover partnerships with organizations and individuals that work in the areas of rehabilitation of street children, orphans and destitute children trying to integrate them into mainstream society.

Differently-abled

This would include partnerships with organizations and individuals working towards rehabilitation of physically and mentally challenged children/adults. Besides organizations that work towards providing vocational training and guidance to challenged individuals with an effort to make them economically independent and contributing members of society.

Health care and Sanitation

This would include partnerships with organizations and individuals supporting sanitation and health-care initiatives, awareness programs and provision of basic / specialized medical facilities for the underprivileged sections of society.
